Here are some helpful reminders for what to do once your house has sold:
- Call the movers:
Get an estimate. Call several moving companies to get quotes for moving your belongings to your new home.
- Contact Your Service Providers:
Notify your existing service providers and set up services for your new address. Don’t forget to have them turn off your services once you leave your current address.
Before you start to pack determine what belongings you are going to sell, donate, or trash by putting them in piles. Having a yard sell is a great way to get rid of items you don’t want to bring to your new location. After the yard sales, contact the local thrift stores to have them pick up the remaining items (Salvation Army, Goodwill, etc.
- Pick Up & Return:
Check to make sure if you have anything out for repair or in storage that needs picked up, or returned. Have you borrowed something from a neighbor that needs returned?
- Start Packing:
Begin by collecting or purchasing boxes, tape, labels anything that will help you pack.
You may want to arrange any repairs including a thorough cleaning of your new home if you don’t have time to clean both houses. Friends and family may also be a great help in this area.
- Turn off & Turn On:
Make sure to turn off the A/C or Heater before you leave your old house.
These are just some helpful reminders that will help make the transition smoother after you have sold your home.
